Insurance asking me to turn off Find My before repair

Hi, is it normal that a repair centre would insist that Find My needs to be off before they take in the phone? (And Activation Lock, I assume.) Does this just mean that they're not accredited repairers, or what? Sounds fishy to me.

This is from Apple's "Get Ready for Repair" Support page.


"For some repairs, you'll need your Apple ID password to erase your device and turn off Find My.*"
