Hotspot works and then doesn't

I recently upgraded to a MacBook Air. When I try to connect to my hotspot on my iPhone 13, it does quickly the first time I try during the day. Then when I'm done and close the computer and move on to the next thing and attempt to connect again, it connects to the hotspot but there is no internet. I have restarted the computer, the iPhone, disconnected and reconnected, but seems like I can only connect to the hotspot once throughout the day (and works fine) but then any additional time, it will not work. What is my resolution to the issue?

My 2011 MacBook Pro connects consistently with no problem. My cruddy windows computer connects with no problems. I desperately need a solution. Most of the other threads I've found on this just say restart your computer or MacBook....Posting from my wife's computer.... My MacBook Air is running on maco2 Monterey version 12.6.9.

Hi there tjbaker019,

If your MacBook Air is not connecting to your Personal Hotspot as expected, the steps outlined in this article can help resolve what's happening: If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular)

If this continues after looking over that, update your Mac to the latest version of macOS Monterey, 12.7. This installs feature improvements and fixes that can resolve unexpected issues like this. These steps from Update macOS on Mac walk you through how to do this:

1. Before installing new software, it's a good idea to back up your Mac. If you have an external storage device, you can use it to back up your Mac with Time Machine.
2. To check for new software, open Software Update:
* From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose System Settings. Click General in the sidebar, then click Software Update on the right.
* Or in earlier versions of macOS, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Software Update.
3. If Software Update finds new software, click the Update or Upgrade button to download and install it. You will be asked to enter your administrator password, which is the password you use to log in to your Mac. During installation, your Mac might show a progress bar or blank screen several times.

If Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, then no new software is currently available for your Mac model. Software Update shows only software that is compatible with your Mac.

Cheers!
