I was shocked to find I have only 1.39Gb left on my HD. When I looked at the breakdown, I found that the biggest chunk was due to "System Data"
I think it might be due to Airdropping large files regularly?

Can confirm it was a bug with AIRDROP - after cancelling drops, after sometime the space cleared up.
