New Sonoma has problem with SPSS IBM software. Now it refuses to start up without assigning a local computer server details. I did not need that yesterday in older version of OS.

IBM statistical software called SPSS - Statistical Package for Social Sciences. It worked fine before new OS update. I have iMac 27 inch from 2021. Now it starts but asks for local server details (which are unknown to me?). So it will not start. I need this for my business. Must delete the new OS Somona and go back to prior version until this bug gets fixed.

There is already an active post involving failure of SPSS 29 on Sonoma, and the ball is in IBM's court to resolve this issue. Their product, not Apples, and IBM has access to the same Apple software development kit that other vendors do whose products currently work on Sonoma.

Check with IBM.

In the future, remember that you will need to keep a list of any 3rd party apps that you depend on. When Apple releases a major upgrade, you need to contact each developer on your 3rd party list and confirm that their software works on Sonoma. In some cases, you will have to pay for an upgrade. The only acceptable response is "yes, our product works with macOS Sonoma". If you get no response, or worse, "what's Sonoma" then you can't upgrade.

Ideally, you will need an additional computer to test future updates from Apple. Never upgrade your primary computer until you have verified that your entire workflow runs properly on the new system.
