M1 Max slower than M1 Pro

Hello, I’ve bought a Mac Studio M1 Max with 32g of ram to replace my MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 16Gb ram since I’ve experienced problems with ram usage on my MacBook Pro in fcp..

I did numerous tests now on both machines (Resolve, Premiere Pro and FCPX ) and the M1 Pro seems to be faster in all tests.

It goes as far as needing 57min vs 37min on an export from resolve with the exact same timeline ..

Has anyone an explanation for this? Or experienced the same?

Studio runs on Ventura, MBP on Monterey..

I don’t actually have an explanation for this. The CPU for both probably has 10 cores (M1 Pro is configurable with 8 or 10). The GPU for M1 Max has 32 cores compared to M1 Pros 16. It could be related to random background processes that use resources. If the settings to export are all the same, M1 Max should be quite a bit faster. Try restarting the computer and see if that resolves the issue at all. Graphics intensive tasks like exporting video should be much faster with Max so I’m not sure why that isn’t happening in practice.
