Update from 10.10.5 Yosemite to High Sierra or other, will I loose my programs (Adobe Creative Suite-license)?

Dear community,

I never have updated from 10.10.5 Yosemite because I am afraid to lose my programs which I have beought back in 2014 with a license.

Now you have to lease the programs, which I don´t want to.

Do you know how it works?

Many programs say I need to update in order to use them ...

Thanks for answers,

Stefanie

I do not know offhand whether your programs are so old that Adobe has shut down its DRM activation servers for them.

If the servers were still running, you could try cloning your Yosetime drive to a new or spare external drive, using an (old version of?) Carbon Cooy Cloner or SuperDuper! Then upgrading that drive to a newer OS, starting up from it, and playing with it a while to see if the upgrade would work out.

The idea would be to have a working Yosemite setup to fall back to if the upgrade did not go as hoped-for. But Adobe DRM could throw a monkey wrench even into this cautious approach.
