Apple TV on Cox

Fyi to RI community...Cox is having major problem with Apple TV app since adding it to their Cox Contour apps.

Tech reports for past 7 months not working for Cox customers. Changing cable box does not help. Cox needs to fix this issue...

I reached out to the COX

Social Media Team and this is what the moderator recommended to try:

-Click on the Contour button on the

remote.

-Select the setting icon on the far right

lower bottom of the screen to go into

the settings

-Arrow down to highlight and select

privacy.

-Arrow down and select Locally stored

data

-A box will appear on the tv screen

asking if you want to clear local

storage. Click"ok"

I did try this in the past and it did not work, but today I tried again and it worked! The Apple TV App is working on my TV. I wanted to share this with everyone!

I tried this ‘solution’… it didn’t work! Not only that I then had to spend 20mins signing back into Netflix/Prime/Max/Hulu/Disney/YouTube as literally everything was wiped… ok if it worked but it didn’t.

It did get rid of the black screen after the Apple logo and instead allowed me to get to settings/account but selecting sign-in just brings up the spinning spokes and it’s been like that for ages 🤬

I started having the problem with Cox and the Apple TV app last night 4/13. After speaking with Apple I spoke with Cox 2nd tier tech support and found out they are aware of the problem as they've received a lot of calls. They are working on a fix. The Apple app has given Cox problems before apparently more than other apps.

The tech support person told me that she had a customer clear data and like you it didn't work. Until there is a fix the only other option is to use the remote to your TV. You would need to switch input when going back to Cox remote. I haven't done it as of yet. Very annoying.

Using Cox Communications for cable TV the AppleTV APP appears with their streaming APPs, however when you access the APP you cannot even sign in. The cox AppleTV APP is not working in Rhode Island and everyone should be aware of this problem. I do not want to purchase the Firestick when Cox offers the APP for free; Cox needs to fix the Apple TV APP. All other APPs like Prime and Netflix work fine!

I was just working with someone on this problem, where they were getting spinning gears on the Contour Apple TV app. They wanted to send me a video using their phone and this is what happened.


”I tried it to send you a video and got a QR code. Followed it through and am now logged in. I was holding the camera towards the tv. Went through all the clicks I’ve been doing for the last 4 days. But this time got a QR code that brought my phone to an authentication page.”

I cannot use my COX controller like for all the other streaming channels but can get to AppleTV using by tv controller and logging into Apple TV. Big pain! Even bigger pain is my tv controller has no Pause button. Theirs problem has started for me in the last 2 weeks
