Sending Message with Shortcuts

What has happened? What am I missing?

Why can you no longer send a message with Shortcuts? Pre-iOS 17, one was able to send a message via the app. Though you couldn’t choose a date, you could choose a day of the week and a time.

If you select “Run Immediately,” it doesn’t run. It pops up with a request to run. Or if your phone is open, the message app opens with the text populated in the field when the time is triggered. It doesn’t run automatically.

Here’s what I’m doing just so no one thinks I have no clue:

Time of Day>Weekly (select day of week)>Run Immediately>Send message>Enter message and recipient

What gives? Someone suggested through a FB Shortcuts page to:

Siri & Search>Automatically Send Messages>Toggle Automatically Send Messages

Though I thought that was weird because it never required that before, I thought it was worth a shot. Nothing. Still the same problem.

Really scratching my head. I used this feature constantly since I normally work late through the evening and need to send texts to people in the AM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello GoodSirIII,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Does the issue persist if you create a new personal automation in Shortcuts on your iPhone? Please check out this helpful resource: Shortcuts User Guide

If that didn't help, please reach out to Apple Support for further assistance. Depending on your region, you may be able to reach them here: Get Support

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.
