iPhone 15 Pro Max Black Screen

I have had my iPhone 15 pro max less than a month and this is the second time I have experienced the black screen of death. It Normally happens possibly whilst charging my phone through the night. Come the morning I’m faced with the issue. The buttons make sounds and vibrations as if the phone is on. However I am unable to reset or turn the phone off and on. The first time lasted a few hours into the morning where I would receive calls and notifications, but unable to see or answer. The second time until my set alarm went off and then the phone reset itself

I had the same thing happen while charging my phone overnight. I could feel the vibrations and sounds but screen was black. I even had someone call me and it rang but the screen would not come on. I ended up restarting with the volume up volume down and hold the power button until it reset. Came back on without issue.

Apple please look into this.

Black screen was gone with past update now back with latest update 17.1.2 It was happening less than a month after I got my new iphone 15 pro max. I had same thing, that happened to ppl here: only if I charge it overnight, and first time I didn't know what was that and it freaked me out. better. I could here clicking sounds when I pressed the side button. Alarm worked. Could tell phone is working but the screen was pitch black. first time it happened, emergency sound was activated, which freaked me out wven more.. and worse it dialed 911. I went online and learned this: 1-press volume up quick and release, 2- press volume down and release then 3- press side button and hold till the apple logo appears .. But this problem was resolved with the last updates including the amazingly shorter battery. Yesterday, I updated system again to 17.1.2 I woke up just now to that same nonsense. It is definitely a system software issue with apple. They resolved and now they decided, nope let's put it back. Battery? will see if that battery fast discharge comes back again. I' don't know what happened to apple but this iphone 15 is by far the one with the most issues.

This happened to me this morning, and luckily I had an iPad to look up the solution:

1) Press the “sound up” bar on the left side quickly

2) Press the “sound down” bar on the left side quickly

3) Hold the hard reset on the right until the Apple symbol appears

4) This will bring you to the Home Screen to put in your pass code

5) Clear your phone of all open apps.

Apparently when the phone backs up or updates overnight, some of the new updates might not be compatible and the phone shuts down.

Hopefully they find a fix for this soon!

@gam3r yeah it only happens at night when on charge. I've been in constant touch with apple support but they are still looking into it. It is definitely in my opinion a software issue as a hard reset fixes it everytime. So far has happened to me 3 times, twice of which was in the same week but hasn't happened since last week for whatever reason. Charging limit set to 80% as well.

Black screen at 100% charged battery - 3 week old iPhone Pro Max

Have not read through all of these, but thought I would say thank you! to solutions posters. Three I thought were excellent so I'm reposting them

1) Force restart - quick press volume up, then volume down, then hold power button until apple logo,

2) Ask Siri - Poster noted if Siri doesn't respond, hold power button 2 sec

3) Settings - Set Optimized battery charging to 80% limit

Thanks again!

The first time for me was last night. I noticed the screen was black after removing it from charging. I tried restarting, etc. After a while, I got the Restore screen with the address in the picture. I went to the address, plugged the phone into my MacBook Pro, restarted it, a Finder window opened, and software downloaded/installed into the phone. After completion and restart, the iPhone returned to normal.

I didn't see this process mentioned. Is it new? So far, the phone's operating normally.

I have a 7 month old iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 17.4.1. Not a Pro Max. I set an alarm last night for this morning. I woke up early and and reached for my phone on the magnetic charger. I tapped on the screen to check the time. Nothing. The black screen of death. I tried the normal start by pressing and holding the side button. Nothing. I thought the phone had not charged overnight, even though it had over 70% charge when I went to bed. I plugged it into an Apple 20 watt charger, waited a few minutes to see if it would start charging. Nothing. So I did an internet search and found this group discussion. I tried the suggestion of quickly pressing the volume up, then volume down, followed by the normal side button start. Nothing.

I decided to try calling my phone from my iPad Pro. I used my Google Voice app and WiFi calling. Success. My iPhone display lit up with the Google Voice app showing that I was getting a call. I answered the call, said a couple of words to make sure it was working.

I hung up and my normal background home page appeared - folders and wallpaper.

Not sure what the problem is, hopefully Apple fixes it soon. I normally keep my previous iPhone and iPad in case my new ones have problems. I waited longer than normal before upgrading to my current iPhone and iPad. My older ones don’t support iOS 17.x.x. I won’t be waiting as long before I upgrade again. Fortunately, I had a new iPad Pro.

Hopefully this helps in case pressing all the buttons to force a restart fails.

bro I literally just got the same thing I left my phone on charge on an at&t usb c charger overnight it was making all the noises and everything but would not show an image the screen just stayed black.so what ended up happening is my wife called me and then it started showing the screen again this is a very weird glitch and i hope they fix this soon cus not only is it weird its scary when you buy a phone not even a month ago and its dead in the water for no reason, without a warranty.
