AirPods gen 3 not connecting. Light flashes amber, but won’t flash white or register on phone

I lost my left airpod and just received a replacement. I followed the steps to pair the new AirPod. Put the new left AirPod in the case with the old right one, disconnected them from my phone, and now I cannot get them to reconnect no matter what guides I follow. The light will flash amber and when I push the button on the back of the case, it never flashes white, and the phone doesn’t react. Not sure what to do.

It is the generation 3 airpods and both the new left one and old right one are clearly the 3rd gen.

Hi there Latte_L,

You'll want to make sure you followed these steps exactly to pair your replacement AirPods: Set up your replacement AirPods or charging case - Apple Support

Keep this information in mind:

* If the status light still flashes amber, connect the case to power, close the lid, and wait 20 minutes. Then open the lid and press and hold the setup button again for a few seconds until the status light flashes white.

If you still need further assistance, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support directly for further assistance. They're best-equipped to take a closer look at the issue and provide some additional guidance. This link will help you get started: Apple Support
