Conneting Apple Studio Display to a MacBook Pro M1

Hello,

I use my MacBook Pro M1 (16“, 2021) with an OWC-Thunderbolt-Dock Go (TB 4). The display could be connected to the dock or the Mac which is power-supplied by the dock. Does it matter to which port I connect the display? Is there a „technical“ difference or is this not important?

Will Studio Display work connected to Thunderbolt docking station? I have a '20 Intel MBP plugged into a Kensington Thunderbolt 4 docking station. Will the Studio Display work as expected if I connect the DS' upstream TB4 cable to the docking station or does it have to be connected directly to the MBP? My assumption is that it should work connected to the dock but you know what they say about assumptions.... 😉 TIA!

Studio Display and Thunderbolt Docks Hello, I am setting up my Studio Display with my 16” M1 Max MacBook Pro. I want to get a thunderbolt dock like the Caldigit TS3 Plus or something similar. Since the display and those docks both charge the computer, could I plug the dock into a USB C port on the display and use it without doing any harm to my Mac or the Studio Display?

Apple Studio Display - Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Hi - does anybody have any experience of successfully connecting an E14 (first gen) Lenovo ThinkPad laptop (my current Windows work device) to an Apple Studio Display? The ThinkPad uses a single USB C DisplayPort Alt port for power/display.

In case of connecting the display to the dock I don‘t lose a Thunderbolt-Port on the Mac.

The Display has three 10 Gbps USB-C ports for connecting accessories.

That is correct but it doesn‘t have further Thunderbolt-ports which the Mac does.

3 TB4 ports on your MacBook + 3 USB-C 10Gbps on the Studio Display is more than sufficient for everything. Be happy.
