Search in messages is not finding the matches

I am a very heavy user of the messages sms and iMessage, and I spend MUCH of my workday searching through messages to remind myself of some minutia or to copy/paste something from one party to another. Today the search function is not going back more than a couple of days. I need search to go back waaaay back to the dawn of time. AND IT USED TO WORK. Please tell me the removal of this critical ability is not "a new feature", and it will be coming back with a bug fix very very soon.

I’ve reached out and support was not able to help. I can scroll thru messages until my hearts content but search won’t find anything in the past. Also, message threads shows pictures, but when you go into the info section most are not there even though they are in the thread. Apple support couldn’t fix that either.
