iPad Pro 12.9 2023 battery drains quickly since iOS 17 update

Ever since the iOS 17 update my iPad Pro 12.9 (2TB 2023 model) battery life only last about an hour and a half. Before it was lasting about 6-9 hours. My daughter has the 11 inch 1TB model and is having the same issue. Can this be fixed?

Hello MrsCampbell1,

We would like to see how we can help you with your iPad battery draining quickly. Which iPadOS 17 version are you currently running? Go to Settings > General > About for the version. If you are not already, please update to iPadOS 17.0.3 and test the issue for 48 hours. Follow the steps in this link to update: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

Cheers!

I have been having the same issue for the past few days since getting the new update. I haven’t ever had battery issues with this ipad Pro 12.9 4th generation 2020 until the update… I thought maybe I misread the battery percentage the first night… This is the 5th night/ morning. Just got off work from a 12 hour shift. My iPad was 77% when I left.. it is now 2 percent… when I’m not using it, it always holds its charge for DAYS….. so I wonder why this is happening.. Was the update to make us buy new iPads like we get a "new" phone every so often?

iPad Air running iPadOS 17.5.1

just appalling. Ran perfectly could go several days without needing to charge I now don’t get more than 2 hours. Who at Apple is actually dealing with this? I’ve nothing running in background I’m doing basic things, it was literally an overnight change as soon as the upgrade ran. Strange the newest iPad is just hitting our shops?

I think your post was removed by Apple because it violated the terms of service you agreed to when you joined the community.

You have other issues going on. There’s no way Apple is throttling a 2023 iPad. You topped it off by being rude to another community member that was not even about your post. They were commenting to the Original Poster.

If you’re having an issue, why don’t you create your own post and spell out what exactly you’re experiencing. Then you’ll receive suggestions that pertain more to your issue. 😀😀
