My iphone 15 pro is draining itself

My iphone is using so much battery even when im not using. Home and Lock Screen is using up the battery. This is really disappointing as it is the latest phone. It was fine the first few days and after updating it to 17.0.3 this issue came up. Its also overheating after the update.

Thank you for the screenshot.

You're not the first to have reported this on these forums. This is a well-known issue. Power is a big concern for iPhone 14 and 15series, along with after installing iOS17. Question is: "Jost how many people have actually reported this to Apple.

Troubleshooting a Draining iPhone Battery:

A. Battery Drain Info:

The iPhone battery will drain, unless it is plugged in and charging. With lots installed, the charge would be slower. As for how fast it would drain the battery, that would depend on the battery health and the volume (sound) you use.

  1. Go Here: iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support
  2. Scroll Down: to "Your battery's maximum capacity"

B. Verify the Baterry Health Percentage:

Apple recommends you get a new battery, once the Battery Health reaches 80% or lower. When the Battery Health is 80% or lower, it is time for a new battery. Unfortunately, these if no way to know how, nor when, then percentage decrease occurred. So see if it tine for a new battery...

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: Battery
  3. Tap: Battery Health
  4. View: [the percentage]
  5. Is it 80% or less?  If so, it is time for a new battery.

C. Troubleshooting the Battery:

D. Report this to Apple

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Overheating and Draining Battery with iOS 17:

It’s a bug. As long as people are reporting it, I’m sure Apple will fix it. Call it silly, but always wait a couple of days until I install an update, just to be certain there are no bugs reported. And wouldn’t ya know it: There is a bug.

Why I Wait:

Once you’ve installed an update to an iPhone, you cannot downgrade to an earlier iOS.

Hi Saran59 Is your issue resolved - I know it has been only 3 days. I ordered my 15 Pro an delivery is 31 Oct. I am wondering now based on heating, battery draining, and burn-in - as to what is going on. So would love to hear if your battery issue is resolved. I do not need always on. I would love to turn it off if possible and whether that helps. Thoughts?

This is by far the WORST iPhone to come out. I never get the first version bc I did it with the 4 and I learned my lesson. But this one, my hand is being burnt by it so many times. Battery drains. It’s the “replacement” they shipped me bc the same thing happened on the first one I got from the preorder. I’m so disappointed that Apple would do this to their customers. I’m going to return this and get a iPhone 12. It’s way too much money to spend on this product and there’s nothing being done.
