How to remove duplicate apps

On my new iMac (using Ventura 13.5.2), I find that I have two versions of Firefox and Chrome when I go to my system settings and click on Desktop and Dock. Interestingly, they do NOT appear when I open my app folder. The only way to find them is through Finder or by the method I described earlier. Right now, Firefox is my default browser, but sometimes when I'm using it and I open a new tab, the second version of Firefox pops up with a random website…very disconcerting. I’ve tried to remove both of these unnecessary second apps with no success. Other than having to download Appcleaner, what other method can I use to get rid of these duplicate apps?

Delete duplicate apps from the Applications folder...

If the Dock icon is tied to to the old app drag it off the Dock.

When you launch the new version of the App it shows in the Dock, Control click it >Keep in Dock
