Is WhatsApp supported on iPad?

I bought an iPad so that I could have an entree into the Apple/ios environment. Everything else for me is Windows, Chrome, Google and Android. But WhatsApp is a key part of my work. I can’t find an app for WhatsApp on iOS - is it not usable on iPad?

This is extraordinary. Most of my communicants use Whatsapp. I haven't asked them if they use ipad, but I think some/lots of them use iphone. Does iphone support whatsapp? Certainly my android tablet has whatsapp. Being peremptorily told by apple forums to 'google whatsapp' diminishes my confidence in ios. This is the first ios device I've had. I'm getting the vibe that I'm too stupid to use ipad.

I am not sure if the problem is with the WhatsApp people that they decided to not support Apple products, or is it an issue with Apple supporting a predominantly Android and Windows application. Given the history that I have had with Apple products over the years, I suspect it is the latter. Another reason to never use Apple products.

If Apple marketing has any influence over the support given to different applications, I think that WhatsApp should be given a major priority. At present, WhatsApp and Zoom are, from my experience, the most ubiquitous apps used internationally by a very wide customer base. Tapping into that customer base should be a major marketing goal.

Isn’t it related to the developer rather than Apple?

there is a desktop version on WhatsApp and a mobile app for iphone, so what is the big deal? What is the special requirement that is still missing on an iPad?

WhatsApp web can be compiled as an App pretty straight forward.

I really believe it has to do with Meta only. Apps like telegram works flawlessly on iOS.

i found Apps not from Google, especially paid, for WhatsApp performs better than WhatsApp Web.

Tablets even equipped with cellular are capable of phone call (virtual phone Apps) but still isn’t capable of SMS. That is why Whatsapp App is not available. For health reason (shoulders, eye ..),

I prefer WhatsApp with larger screen size but such iPhones cost more.

Why can’t apple put places for a sim on a iPad

All iPad models are available in two versions - these being WiFi Only (without Cellular hardware/capabilities) or WiFi+Cellular that does include Cellular (and will therefore have a SIM slot).

However, whether the iPad is a Cellular model or not, it is not capable of directly accessing Cellular Voice or SMS/MMS Messaging features. An iPad with either WiFi or Cellular connectivity alone can only access IP-data services.

If you add a DataSIM and Cellular plan to a WiFi+Cellular model of iPad, the number associated with the SIM card is only used to identify your account for billing purposes. This number is cannot be used for making calls or sending messages.

I went to Best Buy yesterday and was looking at the new mini iPad, I spent some time playing with the system and specifically went into the apps store looking for WhatsApp (why wouldn’t you anyone with an international business knows WhatsApp is not just a nice to have), then the “Apple Geek Squaddie” appeared, I asked him why WhatsApp wasn’t showing in the Apps Store, he told me because it’s a store model and lots of apps were removed to stop people setting up and using it in store. So he is obviously a liar or useless as he assured me I would be able once I got a new one.

Guess what my whole system seamlessly went onto the new iPad via the cloud and WhatsApp is still turning.

Best Buy are getting a visit , why I don’t know as I like the iPad but don’t like being duped by mellenial falcons preying on Gen X with good intentions.

Not happy about having to log in through a web application.

Best Buy should be honest, Apple and Zuckerberg should sort it out, bunch of kids squabbling over toys.

meanwhile life goes on…

I am really upset at either What’s App or Apple or whoever has caused this mess. My old iPad with the most up to date software, worked fine with what’s app. Now I have a new iPad, and what’s app doesn’t work with it. I have a daughter in England, and one of the joys in my life is getting in bed at night, knowing she is awake across the pond, and exchanging messages. It is much harder to use an iPhone for this.

Whatever you guys say. Not building WhatsApp for IPad is a complete nonsense. Be it Apple, Facebook, WhatsApp, Meta all those big companies proving themselves useless. Either Apple has some restrictions because of which WhatsApp developers are not able to make the app for IPad or WhatsApp themselves choosing this path making it complete nonsense.

And yes, those who are suggesting to use web app on iPad should understand that we already tried that and there is no replacement of native app. We cannot make a calls using WhatsApp web. Is it a reason because of which Apple is restricting WhatsApp? What if we could dial a WhatsApp call from IPad? Who will buy iPhones?

I keep seeing emails from the Apple Support Community with a comment:

You do realize that WhatsApp is a META product, and Apple has ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER META’S DECISIONS OR PLANS!

I think this is a cop-out. If Apple wanted to support WhatsApp, all they have to do is request it and provide META with the API specific to iPad.

Is WhatsApp supported on iPad?
