iPhone 15 Pro Photos are Dark

Pictures are coming out darker after being taken with the front & back cameras. Compared with the iPhone 14 Pro & the iPhone 14's photo looks better. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing with their new iPhone 15s or knows the fix to this? This is frustrating since I need to take photos & videos for work.

Issues with both front and back camera. Standing in front of a bright open window. The image always looks bright in the viewfinder before taking the picture (screenshot of screen, on left) after you take the picture (on right), the image is noticeably darker. It looks like there may be automatic sharpening or clarity enhancing and that could be what makes the photos so dark. Is there a way to turn it off?

I also just got the 15Pro after trading in my XR, specifically for the camera. I edit images in Photoshop and Lightroom, and they all come out MUCH darker, and flatter once exported. I am devastated after waiting so long to upgrade my phone to see that my images look awful. PLEASE FIX THIS APPLE!!! I need this camera to function correctly for work and personal use.

I’m also having the same issue.

I have spent hours on my settings and nothing is fixing this issue. Before capturing the picture the quality is amazing. The moment you take the picture and look back in your camera roll - the picture becomes darkened and pixelated.

I am not sending my phone to apple in hope they can fix this. This is 100% fixable as the camera is good quality. It’s just a fault when you capture an actual picture.

Having the same issue with my new IPhone 15 pro. It’s adding shadows and shows too much texture resulting in adding a couple years to my profile. It does the opposite of enhancing my pictures. It doesn’t compliment anyone’s face. Makes you look older and enhances any type of wrinkle or crevices. I want to return my phone. I got this phone thinking it had a better picture quality. It cost too much money for the picture quality to be terrible.

I also have this issue, i opened a case with apple support and even sent in a screen recording of how the picture changes from before it’s taken to how dark and grainy it goes after. They escalated to the engineers and i received a call back today and was told that this is normal for the iPhone 15 pro max camera. So apparently we all just have phones with horrible camera’s. I do agree my 12 pro max took 100x better pictures and i do regret upgrading before i tested it out. SMH!

Hello! I have been following this thread for a few days, I am sooo disappointed with my camera and how the photos (particularly ones taken of my kids/people) darken and just look so generally terrible compared to how it looks in the window before I take them, I have called Apple also, the advisor screen shared with me and could see the difference between what I saw when I took the photo vs the resulting photo.. all she could suggest was waiting to see if a software update fixed the problem or downgrading to a previous model of phone.. I am so upset about this..! Where are you going to go from here?? Are we just supposed to accept this is our camera/quality of photos..?

I have tried many problem-solving methods from the internet and TikTok. The only one that really works on my 15 pro is to take selfies with the Burst mode. To activate Burst mode, tap the "take a photo" button and drag it left (or quickly swipe left the button).

Burst mode shots are not automatically edited by the iPhone, so the colors stay the same as they were seen before capturing the shot (no darker colors, less grey shades, no HDR effect).

Hope that helps, folks!

Guys it was happening the same to me. I got the i phone 15. I just discovered it’s the camera shutter. If you try to take a photo with timer it’s gonna look just like you expected, it seems it looks dark when you take the photo in the same exact moment. Also I tried instagram and snapchat cameras and it doesn’t look dark there.
