After updating to ios 17 my iPhone 11 doesn’t charge anymore when it’s on. It used to charge with 10w charger but after 17.0.3 that doesn’t work either.
Only way to charge now is to turn off phone and charge.
Clean charging option is not available for me. optimised charging is turned off. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

We always have Background App Refresh off.
Turned off Optimum Charging.
The problem was four-fold:
1-The rubber on the Otter Box was slightly impinging on the lighting cord connection (easy to correct)
2-17.1.2 IOS Update
3-Optimum Charging off
*(after the above 3, phone charged somewhat better but not consistent, would actually show it was charging but lose battery %)
4- New Apple 20W charger was intermittent, I figured it out late night when I noticed the phone lighting up-on and off (cord verified as good)
After receiving warranty charger, pone now charges as expected.
Restored the "Optimum Charging" feature.
In my case I can't say for certain if the IOS was the culprit or a combination of the above damaging the charger.

Also happening to me. iPhone 13 Pro I was going mad thinking it was my cable, tried another cable and it was the same. Then thought it was the plug at fault, tried a different one, same thing again. iPad is doing it too. Only since the latest update. I plugged it in yesterday and about an hour later the battery had decreased. The charging icon was flicking on and off repeatedly. Working right now but only after using yet another plug, the official Apple one.
SOLVED IT, MAYBE, HASN’T COME BACK
“Had the same issue”. The phone would just stop charging. I think I’ve solved it. Turned ON, Optimized Battery Charging, Then Immediately Turned It Off,
then did the same for Clean Energy Charging, On then Off. Didn’t reboot the phone. Problem hasn’t come back, charges to 100% and stays on charge.

I just encountered the same issue, iPhone 14 Pro Max with the latest update. None of the “common fixes” were working for me BUT wireless charging still works!!! Hope this helps for others :’)
"ensure iOS is up to date." Yet that update is what caused this issue, same with me, I updated to iOS 17.0.3 and all of the sudden, my battery is now locked between 21%-26% battery with a good cord, nothing is wrong, I legitimately charged my phone to full 100% just before the update, suddenly I cannot do that.
iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 17.0.3. This is really driving me nuts. Checked all the parts: new expensive cable, powerful charger. Disabled fancy settings under Battery. Battery health steady at 89%. Apple Genius who found no issues (including looking at logs, though that didn't seem helpful), wiped the phone and I restored from iCloud. Issue came right back. Slow to no charging even if it shows a connection to a strong charger. I turn off background apps that I can see.
In the end for me before trading in my 12 pro max recently , I just kept putting in the lightning cable and taking it out and repeating this out of frustration and it actually clicked eventually , not sure how that made it register and got it to charge but it worked . Other than that sadly maybe a wireless charger as apple saw no issues with my hardware and nothing could be done about the software I guess until the next update .
just updated my phone ( iphone 11 pro ) to ios 17.1.2 and i am experiencing this problem too. I plug in my phone to charge but i wont start to increase my battery matter of fact i lose charging while charging my phone 🥲. But when i restart my phone or when i plug in the charger again, it changes as intended.
Apple replaced my phone free of charge. It's working fine.
i'll take note of that, thanks for the info, i noticed here, if i unplugged it for a while and replugged it later(after the battery drops a little) it continues all the way to 100%
Turn optimized charging off and clean energy charging off then reboot. Worked for me.
Same here, but on iPhone 12 mini also updated to iOS 17.0.3. Usually leave my phone to charge overnight, and this morning it was at 31% showing the charging symbol while plugged in. Check the battery in settings, and it showed the battery was draining while charging.. unplugged and replug the charging cord and it charged. Later this evening, iPhone was left sitting undisturbed, no active app running in background, got maybe 2 notifications in 4-5 hours span, and the battery just continuously drained to 22% from 70ish.
This has randomly happened to me recently where the phone all of a sudden said water was detected after being no where near water then all of a sudden now , no apple cables work in my phone, luckily a generic one I’ve used in the past in the car is the only thing that works but is short . PLEASE fix this apple as it’s frustrating having to buy and try different things when it’s in fact a software issue.
Is randomly happening to me too… iPhone 11 Pro Max iOS 17.1.1 … sometimes is charging sometimes just between 17-22% and is power off by himself sometimes.. last night I put the phone to charging and on the morning just 31% .. I try something find on web about hard reset with vol up down and after power button till apple logo shows but not working… I just buy this couple of months ago, first iPhone I was a android guy and now I was wondering if I make a good decision.. and I don’t have a spear device and is difficult for me because I need my phone at work because I need to make a loot of photos…
I did the rebooting, it doesn’t solve the problem. However, I charged it with a charger & cord that’s not Apple’s. It worked but it is super super slow in charging. It takes a day to get it up to 90%. Also, when you turn off the phone and charge it with any charger and cord, it charges but still very slow.
