If you have an Apple TV box, then you would plug the power cord into a power outlet and use an HDMI connection for the video signal to the TV. Set up your Apple TV – Apple Support
If your smart TV supports the Apple TV app, then you can use that without plugging in additional devices.
If you have a third party HDMI streaming device that supports the Apple TV app, then you can use that.
Select gaming consoles and select cable/satellite tuner boxes also support streaming media apps, such as the Apple TV app.
