Instagram opens in Safari browser on my kid’s iPad

Hi’

So we’ve experienced that Instagram opens in the Safari browser on my son’s iPad.

It is normally pages that I’ve visited on the Instagram app on my phone. But I’m not logged in to Instagram on his iPad browser and have never been.

His iPad is connected to my iCloud, but I don’t see why it should have anything to do with it.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it?

Hello Kathrissen,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We want to make sure we understand correctly, you are using your Apple ID on your son's iPad. And one of the websites, that goes to an app on your iPhone, is accessible on the iPad when using Safari.

If that is what's happening, depending on what you have your iCloud set up to share between devices, this would be expected behavior. And it's for reasons such as this that Apple recommends not sharing Apple ID's. See Make sure that each family member has a unique Apple ID - Apple Support for details. It goes over how you can use Family Sharing and create an account specific for a child and use parental controls for what they can and cannot access as well the amount of time allowed on the device.

Reach back out if we misunderstood, or if you have any questions.

Take care!
