"Location Expired" message on iPhone

SOLUTION!!!

I was having he same issue with my son's location. I tried blocking and unblocking him but that did not work. Then I had him block me and unblock me and that worked. Finally. Thank you to others who made that suggestion.

I did what reilyn48 said to do and it worked for me. Nothing else did but that! I am posting this because clearly it is still an issue for some people. This is what reilyn48 said to do "I figured out another way! My boyfriend could see my location but every time he shared his it wouldn’t work and would load then say no location found and location expired. Go to settings>click ur account>find my>find my iphone>turn off the first one and it should make u put in ur icloud password>then just turn it back on and it should work! this is the only thing that worked for me bc we didn’t have each other blocked on emails, everything was up to date, we blocked and unblocked each other and nothing worked but this !" the only difference that I did was when I turned it off I then turned my phone completely off as well after. Then once I turned it back on I turned Find My back on and then turned the phone off again. Once I turned it on my friends location shared with me and I was able to share with her too.

I figured it out 2 nights ago after this being an issue for about 3 months. It turned out I was blocked in the persons email block list. Unblocked it and it came back. Also doing the hard reset press volume up then volume down then hold the power button the slide to swipe comes up but keep holding the power button until the Apple appears. It erases nothing just a hard reset like if you were to remove the battery from something and put it back

I FOUND ANOTHER FIX!!!

So I tried what Nikki said about checking for blocked emails and contacts and that didn’t work, we weren’t on each others blocked list

(I told her to block my number and unblock me and then it started working)

There is definitely a bug in this 17 update!!

Just commenting to say the “block-unblock” trick just worked for me too! Location wasn’t updating for us for a few days, unshared locations and I would get the “location expired” message. Had them block and unblock and it worked!

If your iPhone still says “Location Expired” you might need to reset your network settings. It should revert whatever glitch is interfering with Find My. Open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap General. Tap Reset at the bottom of the screen and reset network settings.

Check the contacts phone and your phone to see if your blocked in email messages or phone that’s how I fixed it was blocked on email and we had no clue

If you are having issues sharing your location with friends, first ensure you are setting this up correctly using the 'Follow a friend's shared location' section here: Find people and share your location with Find My

If this is how you set up sharing locations and this continues, please provide more details on if this happens in every location your friend is in or only in certain locations. This will allow us to isolate this behavior further.

In order for you to see someone's location, you must share yours with the individual also. I had this problem up until I decided to share my own location with the person that was trying to share their's with me. After sharing my own location with them, I was able to see their location instead of location expired.

This works. My location wouldn’t share with my daughter. It kept saying “location expired” in iMessage when I would send it to her. So I blocked and unblocked her on my phone and then it worked after sharing my location with her again.

blocking and unblocking worked for me and they can now see location. For record, I had latest iOS update

I did a soft reboot on the phone. Worked instantly once it restarted. Press up then down and then hold the side button until the apple logo comes on.

Omg thank you so much , me and my boyfriend have been trying to figure it out for daysss and nothing had worked but i just look and i had his email blocked so thanksssss❤️

Go to Settings

>Privacy and Security

>Location services

>Share my Location

Find the Friend or Family member you wish to share location with. If you have a message “Johnny cannot see your location” click on their name and press share location and they should now see you.

Guys we had the same issue trying to figure this out. What you really want to do is make sure all your share my location buttons are on and nobody is blocked on anywhere 2nd definitely trying blocking then unblocking if sharing location expires again trying turning off phones and if it happens again….. go to find my iPhone you should see the person that is sharing their location with you and not having any expiring issues and next to their name it should say share and click on share and that should work with the expiring problem.!!!
