"Location Expired" message on iPhone

Hi,

So when me and my friends are trying to share our location one of theirs says ‘Expired Location’ before the location could even load in. I’m the Find My app it’s also says no location found. I was wondering why was that.

I was not able to see my wife’s location but she could see mine. This is what worked for me.

Go to Settings

>Privacy and Security

>Location services

>Share my Location

There should be a list of people that you are sharing location with (or trying to share location with).

Find the Friend or Family member you are having trouble sharing location with. (In my case this was done on my wife’s phone.) If there is a message “Johnny cannot see your location” click on their name and press share location and they should now see you.

Agreed. settings > general > transfer or reset iPhone (at bottom of page) > reset > reset network settings > enter your PIN. The phone will go through a reboot poutine. My Apple Watch’s connection to my phone was reset too.

I caused the location expired problem by turning off one too many privacy settings in Location Services (settings > privacy and security > location services > system services). If I can figure out which one caused the upset, I’ll post a reply or edit this reply.

I wish that the solution of resetting network settings didn’t get buried by people upvoting others repeating complaint a reply to the original complaint.

I fixed this issue between my husband's phone and mine. It appeared to be a conflict between multiple Contacts established between us (I could tell because different versions of his Contact with me had different photo/info). I deleted every contact I had for my husband (and deleted all the ones for me on his phone) and rebuilt our connection by sharing the "core" contact (the one that says "Me") next to it. Then re-shared locations. Works now!

I figured out another way! My boyfriend could see my location but every time he shared his it wouldn’t work and would load then say no location found and location expired. Go to settings>click ur account>find my>find my iphone>turn off the first one and it should make u put in ur icloud password>then just turn it back on and it should work! this is the only thing that worked for me bc we didn’t have each other blocked on emails, everything was up to date, we blocked and unblocked each other and nothing worked but this !

I was having this problem and I figured out a fix for me. I was sharing with two people (A and B), and when I got the new iPhone, I wasn’t able to see Friend A’s location even the though they could see mine. Then Friend B also got a new iPhone and they couldn’t see mine, even though I could see theirs. In messages it showed I was sharing with both A and B and they were sharing with me, but I reshared it wasn’t working. When I reshared it, it said expired. I searched in the iPhone for “Location”, and it showed I was sharing with both of my friends, and they said the same.

Here’s the fix: But then I searched for “Find My” and it brought me to a different screen that showed Friend A wasn’t sharing with me and I wasn’t sharing with Friend B. So we all went to the “Find My” screen and shared from there, and now it works.

I don’t know why this is different than in messages or when I search “Find My” versus “Location” in the search bar. But now it’s working for all of us.

So this is what I did and it solved the problem, I actually blocked my daughter and then unblocked her right away and I actually had her do the same thing to my contact and BOOM it’s now working perfectly fine now. If that doesn’t work go to their contact and make sure that their email isn’t blocked you can also block the email and unblock it but honestly just blocking the contact and unblocking it should work. I had her reset her phone and I reset mine, we made sure our accounts were up to date but the funny thing is that she was sharing her location with my mom perfectly fine it was when she shared it with me that the problem occurred. I hope this can help some of you’s, GOOD LUCK!

I found the problem! Check under the blocked numbers and make sure you don’t have the email address associated with the Apple ID blocked from that person. My husband’s email address was blocked and it wasn’t allowing me to see his location until I unblocked the email address. It’s so strange that it did that. But that’s what it was and now it’s working.
