Send and receive messages
I recently switched phone carriers so now my text messages are sending through my email not my phone number. When I go to settings it says phone number activating. Won’t allow to press the number.
iPhone 14, iOS 17

Hello isadora35,
Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having some issues activating iMessage. In that case, we'd recommend the guidance from If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on your iPhone - Apple Support. Start by making sure you've covered the basics in this first section, then proceed with the remainder of that article if needed.
"What you need before you sign in
If you're using an iPhone, you need SMS messaging to activate your phone number with iMessage and FaceTime. Depending on your carrier, you might be charged for this SMS.
If a prompt appears stating "Your carrier may charge for SMS messages used to activate FaceTime and iMessage", tap "OK" to allow possible SMS charges."
All the best.
