McAfee App remnants and pop ups!

How do I delete the McAfee Icon in my top bar?

How do I prevent the attached pop up from occurring? There isn't a way to X out or Esc from pop up. The only way to delete is to click through "Get Protection". But After a few minutes it happens again.

I have done the following...

Deleted Mcafee from Applications folder.

Checked Notifications in Safari settings.

Emptied trash.

Restarted laptop.

It's like a virus, isn't it?

Try EtreCheck: How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting Large Amounts of Text, i.e. an Etrecheck Report - Apple Community describes what it is and how to post its report in a reply to this Discussion. Do that. Perhaps someone can point out the remaining components that need to be eradicated along with instructions.

Thank you for the screenshot.

Use an Uninstaller to Uninstall Security Software:

You'd likely have to reinstall it, and then run the Uninstaller. Just dragging-&-dropping it into the Trash from the Applications Folder can leave files laying about your Mac (i.e. caches and shortcuts). So, contact McAfee, requesting a new key to install this, and requesting which Uninstaller to use.

There are no viruses that affect macOS so just forget that idea. That's the reason non-Apple "anti-virus" products must never be installed on Macs. That is usually the first step in a well-worn path to misery.

The reason the icon remains is that you did not uninstall the irredeemable and utterly useless "McAfee" garbage according to its instructions. Or perhaps they just don't work — a defining characteristic of "garbage".

EtreCheck may help. Unlike "McAfee" if you no longer want EtreCheck you simply drag its app icon to the Trash and it will be gone.
