Thanks for answering. I guess I was not clear. When I plug in a mouse or keyboard with the USB port I get the flag that goes something like this: Unknown peripheral is attempting to access. Enter your passcode to grant it access. Of course, I can't enter the code because it will not recognize the mouse or keyboard. Prior to the iPad screen becoming non-functional, the iPad had been plugged in and "on." So, for some reason, it recognized the mouse and keyboard without prompting--EVEN THOUGH we had never used them on the iPad before. Well, after we got it all squared away, a couple of days later, I was charging it and it turned off and said something like: "cannot charge because overheating." And sure enough, it was really hot. So I TURNED IT OFF with the mouse (you cannot turn it off with the restart keys, that just restarts it). well it cooled down and then charged up nice and cool. BUT now it would not recognize the mouse. I now have another iPad and I am frantically trying to figure out how to turn off all security on it--and as far as I can tell, it is not possible. So as of now, all of my data is locked on the iPad (pro), and I cannot even turn it in to Apple for a swap. And I can't sell it to someone who might fix it because it has all of my passwords on it. As far as I can tell, it is a very shiny brick. (Also, my Macs and my iPhone recognize it by way of bluetooth, but it will not respond to those either.)
Thank you for your time--I know your time is valuable. If you can think of anything else, please help.
