If your Apple Watch is already paired, you can continue using it on the version it's currently running. To update to watchOS 10, you'll need to have iOS 17 running on a compatible companion iPhone.

I have the same problem. Thank you for your reply but that doesn’t address the issue fully.

I think I understand what you’ve said: I can’t get the latest software facelift for my watch because my phone is too ‘old’. Fair enough.

But I do expect to get security updates to my Apple Watch still. Will these continue? Assuming they do, how do I get them if the watch app on my phone won’t let me check?
