Caller ID mismatch between iPhone and Apple Watch

So earlier this afternoon my husband called. I had my iPhone near me and I was also wearing my Apple Watch. When I looked at my phone it showed his name. However, when I looked at my watch it showed a different name. So, fast forward to tonight and he calls again. This time my iPhone showed his name and my Apple Watch showed the correct name as well. This has occurred a few times over the course of a month and I’m trying to understand why. Can anyone help me with this? I currently use a iPhone 11 Pro Max and a Apple Watch Series 8.

The best suggestion for a situation such as you describe would be to first restart both the Apple Watch and the paired iPhone, then continue to monitor for future occurrences. Verify that all devices are on the latest supported version of software as well per Update your iPhone or iPad and Update your Apple Watch.

If this should happen again, review the contact information stored for the other name that appeared on your Apple Watch and confirm that the number is not listed for both that name and your husband.

You may also look into any apps that interact with phone calls such as spam blocking or the like to see if disabling those has an impact on this behavior.
