Your tag line says that you have an iPhone 6s Plus. Apple discontinued some variants of that phone in September 2016 and others in September 2018. So I'm guessing that's not the phone in question.

As to why a brand new iPhone with a genuine Apple camera would display such a message, the possibilities would seem to boil down to

  • A software glitch,
  • A hardware issue that is keeping the phone from recognizing that it has an Apple camera,
  • Being sold a "new iPhone" that isn't what the vendor claimed it was

I would suggest contacting Apple, to find out if the phone is malfunctioning, while the phone is covered by warranty (and might even be within the return period).

Getting Rid of Ungenuine iSight Messages:

Who's the Seller?:

Contact the seller. Ask them if the iSight camera they placed in there is a replaced camera is genuine. If the seller is Apple, however,, then you need to contact Apple Support, and inform them of this issue, as it may be a defective camera.

Apple Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there as necessary
  • Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. And that makes sense because with the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)
