How I Charge my Mac:

When I'm at home, and am using it I leave it plugged in. When I am not using it for the night, or while away, I keep it in a private location. There is nothing wrong with leaving it pugged in, unless there is a thunderstorm that might cause a power spur pr power surge. So, be a bit cautious of Mother Nature. To avoid overheating I unplug it when not using it. I don't let the power charge go below 80%. So, you may want to consider doing the same.

Just know that all batteries are prone to failure --so eventually, if may come time for a new battery.

ho many years you are using your Mac ?

ohh, BTW , Lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly used in laptops including Macs, does that kind of battery has a finite number of charge cycles ?

👉🏻 A charge cycle is defined by 100% charging as I know?

p.s. I always tried to keep the battery between 20% and 80% charged whenever possible. it's the opposite what you are doing

Thank you for the followup reply.

Q1. "ho many years you are using your Mac ?"

A1. I get a Mac every 5-7 years. Never had a problem with the battery ---all because of how I use it.

Q2, "ohh, BTW , Lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly used in laptops including Macs, does that kind of battery has a finite number of charge cycles ? A charge cycle is defined by 100% charging as I know?"

A2. No. No battery-type have a finite number of cycles.

Our two MacBook Pros stay on charge 24/7 unless we take one portable. One never goes portable since it's the streaming computer.

I let the charging circuitry manage the battery, that's what it's for. We just use them, recharge them and use them again with no attention paid to percent charge unless it's gets so low the Mac complains.

My computers are plugged in 100% of the time it is convenient to do so. I never try to micromanage the power/charging system. The MacOS handles that task very well.

thanks to you all for responses ... 🤗

if I summarise all your answers,

1. what should I do , just forget such things as It is to to keep the battery between 20% and 80% charged whenever possible ... ?!

or 2. just , leave the plugged in when I am using it. in every time I will start using the pc.?!

3. just give the computer clever management do it's job , without thinking about it

Plug in the computer whenever convenient to do so or when needed. Leaving the computer plugged in will not damage the computer or the battery. And, leaving the computer plugged in reduces the rate of accumulation of battery cycles. Let the MacOS manage the system which it does very well.

No. Leave it plugged in when convenient to do so. You do not have to unplug the computer when not in use.

3. just give the computer clever management do it's job , without thinking about it

BINGO! We have a winner!
