On the three iPhones with iOS 17 in my home, sound check still works but the equalizer has no effect on the sound and the sound quality is poor, especially the treble. The older iPhone without iOS 17 does not have this issue.
Anyone else having this problem?

I’m having the same problem. I did manage to find a work around. I have to switch eq to late night then switch to the one I want. Before every switch it has to be on late night in order to hear a change. A little bit of hassle but, it is the only way for the change to work.

If making changing in Settings 
> Music > EQ does not seem to have an affect, try restarting your iPhone or testing with headphones.

I have tried everything from rebooting my router to resetting it to restoring my iPhone and still the EQ settings on my iPhone 13 do not change the tonal quality while playing Apple Music to my Sonos system.
Via Bluetooth and directly from the phone the EQ works like it should.
That advice does not work. The EQ settings only affect Apple Music app or music played from Itunes store. Apparently the EQ does not affect general phone sounds.

I’ve spoken with several Apple reps who tell me that Apple is aware of iOS 17’s EQ/volume problem and they’re working on fixing it.
I am having the same issue. I notice that the EQ works on some songs and not others. It seems like the song in Hi-Res Lossless are not EQ compatible.
iOS 17.3 didn’t solve this. Still No equalizer effekt what so ever when playing via AirPlay. Before iOS 17 this was Working just fine.
Apple ran two diagnostics with the second showing that "the system is unstable" but offered me no reasons why this is happening happening.
One Apple did say that they're having big troubles with AirPlay on iOS 17.
It isn’t just ios17 it’s earlier systems also. Late night works only
I’m having this exact same issue where Latin or Late night are the only two settings that take effect. Restarting. Latest update. Nothing fixes this.
This may be related to my reduced volume with CarPlay. Once I ask ask Echo Auto what the time or weather is, the volume normalizes with the radio volume.
A senior Apple rep diagnosed the phone twice and found that the my iPhone’s system is unstable.
I’ve tried everything possible, from restarting to restoring via iTunes….all to no avail.
I have the same Problem. :(
Have you contacted Apple support? I have done this too many times...the last time a senior Apple rep talked me to death for about 15 minutes before the phone call was mysteriously dropped.
