Is there a way to switch AirPods between devices with different Apple IDs in iOS 17 like you could in iOS 16?

I have 2 iPhones (one personal and one work), both phones have their own Apple ID, both have been updated to iOS 17, and I routinely use my AirPods with both. Prior to the iOS 17 update, if I had my AirPods connected to my personal phone and received a phone call on my work phone (that was NOT actively connected to AirPods), I could unlock work phone receiving the call, answer the call, tap on the speaker button and a list would pop up allowing me to transfer the call to my AirPods and would automatically switch the AirPods from my personal phone to my work phone. This feature has seemed to have gone away with iOS 17. Is there a work around or will this feature be coming back in a later update?

To switch between devices automatically with AirPods, you'll need to be signed into that device with the same Apple ID using two-factor authentication. You can find this information below, and more details here: Switch your AirPods to another device - Apple Support

AirPods are connected to your iPhone and Apple Watch at the same time. Sound switches between them automatically.

To switch between devices automatically1 with your AirPods (2nd or 3rd generation), AirPods Pro (1st or 2nd generation), or AirPods Max:

Make sure that you have an iPhone or iPad with the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, or a Mac with the latest version of macOS
Sign in with the same Apple ID using two-factor authentication

If you're signed in with the same Apple ID on your devices, your AirPods will switch automatically from listening to music on your iPad to answering a phone call on your iPhone, for example."
