Imagine you are using your AirPods Pro with your MacBook while working. If you get a phone call on your iPhone, your AirPods should automatically switch to your iPhone so you can talk easily. Once the call ends, the AirPods should switch back to your MacBook so you can continue listening on your laptop.

These AirPods can switch automatically1 between your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro:

AirPods 2, 3 and 4 (both models)
AirPods Pro 1 and 2
AirPods Max

To switch between devices automatically, update all your devices to the latest versions of their operating systems and sign in to your devices with the same Apple Account using two-factor authentication.

For example, when you're signed in with the same Apple Account on your devices, your AirPods will switch automatically from listening to music on your Mac to listening to a podcast on your iPhone. Or if you get a phone call on your iPhone that you answer on your Watch, the phone call audio automatically routes to your AirPods.
