pedometer apps not syncing

Various pedometer watch apps not syncing on the face of various watch face apps. My steps are current when I click the actual app on the list of apps, but not on the face. Apple Watch SE, OS 10.0.1. Anyone else?

Apple Watch SE, watchOS 10

Alright! Another sufferer from the aftermath of latest AW update. And along with Step count not being reflected, this morning I discovered I have no Do Not Disturb icon or capability on my AW. Please Apple address these disturbances since the current update.

Two things. One, Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions. You should, however, let them know what you're seeing here:

Product Feedback - Apple

Second, based on the paucity of posts on either of these issues, my guess is this is not a watchOS bug but rather either something wrong with your individual system or some unusual interaction between what you have loaded on your devices. So, I wouldn't be too hopeful, if I were you, that an update will fix this.

I don't have either of these problems.

If you haven't already, I think it's time to unpair and re-pair the watch.

Nothing I tried worked so I contacted Apple. They worked with me for quite a while including 2 different senior techs who tried the proverbial “kitchen sink” and in the end they are replacing the watch. I have to ship this one back and then should receive a new one in 3-5 days. I only have about 10 days left on the warranty so timing worked for me this time 😊. Apple support is excellent. Wish everyone was that good.

I am seeing this too. iPhone 13 and watch 7 - up to date in all updates. The steps on the watch just show 0 for the last few days. Tried all the suggestions you can Google and still doesn’t sync. For some reason most complications do work properly! Even those that are from the pedometer section work - like progress. But “steps” and “steps and distance” just don’t work now! So strange. And the phone does show the steps ok - it’s just the watch.

No way is it the phone!!! It’s just some glitch that I am sure will be fixed with the next updates of the iPhone or the watch. Kinda glad your watch checked out fine. Now I don’t have to worry about returning mine. I bought mine from Costco and they have an unlimited return policy. Figured that’s better than dealing with Apple but glad no return is necessary. In the meantime I just go into watch settings and click the pedometer app and it updates the complication on the watch face. Good luck!

I just spent 30 minutes unpairing and repairing the watch. Problem still persists. Both watch and iPhone are relatively new. In fact I think both are still under Apple 1 year warranty but just barely. Hence why I wouldn’t think this is hardware.

Hardware can still fail while the device is under warranty. But, I don't think it's hardware in this case, either.

Could this be because the step info is from Pedometer++. I don’t think steps are provided natively for the watch if I recall correctly hence why I loaded the non Apple app.

Yes, your phone and your watch count steps. So, I don't think that's it.

Sure I’ll do that. Hoping for the best. Apple did connect remotely to the watch and ran the diagnostic on it and said it passed. Their last thought was the last software install glitched and apparently there is no way to correct that on the watch. And I know the watch has been well taken care. Pristine condition - not a scratch on it!

Well I got a message from Apple support saying they found no issue so they are sending the original watch back. So based on that - that now makes me think something is wrong with the iPhone - hopefully just a setting. I’ll try resetting the location services first when I get the watch back.

I am surprised that Apple didn’t do what they said and send a new watch because of all the diagnostics they already ran. But if the watch is fine then I agree with not replacing it of course.

I just hope I can get it working as it once did … maybe I’ll pair it to a different iPhone as a test if it continue to act up with my phone (my wife’s) ….maybe I need a new phone and not a new watch lol

Ok - I did a new watch setup and still no weather complications. I gave up for now on steps - and will just use the rings because it’s native to Apple. I can get the steps there of course. It’s just a multi- step process.

So I did this for the weather:

Went to settings > Privacy & Security > Locations Services. Tap the switch at the top to turn off ALL location services, wait a minute, and turn it back on.

This seems to have worked for the weather - at least for now. I will feel better when a few days have passed and it’s still working!

I have removed the apps, peds and faces. I have turned off fitness and motion under Privacy. I have shut down and reopened phone and watch. And then turned the fitness and motion button back on. Everything worked well until the latest update. The developers of the watch programs just don’t respond. Generally bugs like this seem to disappear after new updates come out. Since no one else seems to have this problem I guess I’ll just wait. Thanks for helping.
