I've cleared my browsing history, rebooted more than once, checked my user name and password but can't get into my online banking account. However, I can open other websites. When I try to download Firefox or Chrome, I get a message that my computer is too old!
What are my options besides invest in a new system?

Okay. So the iMac mid-2010 cannot run any newer macOS version that what you already have installed... 10.13.6 High Sierra. There is no software upgrade path. The only way to get a newer macOS version is to buy a newer machine.
Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) may still work on your Mac.

Make sure you select the download version Firefox Extended Support Release for the macOS.

I assume you mean 10.13.6 (High Sierra) as 10.3 (Panther) is now 20 years old...
Exactly what model Mac do you have? That will determine what version of macOS you can run.
Exactly what Mac model and year is this? And please confirm the current OS... is it 10.13.6 High Sierra?

Which Mac model and year?
iMac, mid 2010, 21.5 inch
I have an iMac 10.3.6 running Safari version 13.1.2. I've been trying to download updates for both, but I'm getting messages that there are none available.
