What do I do if the Mac I have is one of the intel-based Mac's and I can't seem to update it or Safari and it won't let me get a apple id on any of the programes like iTunes, apple store or the cloud

I was given a MacBook pro (13inch late 2011) it's an older model it's running on unarchived version 10.10.5 processer is 2.8 GHz Intel core i7- Ram memory 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3 -Graphics Intel HD GRAPHICS 3000 512MB storage Macintosh HD 223.12 GB free of 238.69GB with a super drive disc. That. Reads and writes so far all I can do is surf some of the Internet but it won't let me get any updates from any of the places you have in the support page and I don't have another computer that's comparable with this one so i can't update the operating system or Safari or any of the other programs I need to update t get a error message when I try on Safari if I try with the apple store it just goes to the bottom of the page when click for updates for anything plus it won't let me sign up for a apple id or iTunes even the cloud so what are my options

A MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011) can run macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) – but nothing higher. Although High Sierra would be an improvement over Yosemite, most commercial application vendors, and many Open Source application developers, have moved on.

I would strongly advise not erasing your Mac's internal disk and then trying to load the OS via Internet Recovery. In recent weeks, there have been reports of Apple's servers failing to provide old OS downloads. I would suggest that you clone your existing disk and make a bootable external startup drive using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!. (I believe both have versions that will run on Yosemite.). Set the backup in a safe place and THEN try installing High Sierra using the App Store link in the Support article. Assume that if the worst happens, you will only have your own local bootable backups to go on.

----------

You can get High Sierra from here:

How to download and install macOS - Apple Support

(If for some reason, Yosemite is not "good enough" to access that link, you may need to download the .DMG file for Sierra, and install Sierra first, to get an updated Safari and App Store with which to download High Sierra).

The Sierra link (copied and pasted from the Support article) is:

Sierra 10.12

This is a http: link (not a https: one, like the one to the support article itself), so even if the Yosemite Safari is having trouble with modern https: security, it should be able to access this link.

Once you are on Sierra or High Sierra, you can install Firefox 115 ESR.

This version of Firefox is no longer receiving new features, but it is probably newer than the versions of Safari built into Sierra and High Sierra.
