How to remove an Apple ID from my iPhone?

I was gifted an iPhone by the owner. His Apple ID etc is still on the phone. Last night I asked him to go onto one of his other Apple devices and on settings click Remove from Account so that the iPhone is removed. He did that and my phone is no longer showing as one of his devices. However, I started my iphone today and his details are still on there. I want to remove him so I can be the user. Please help

Hello,

if they did all these steps well

Remove Activation Lock on the web if a device is offline

  1. Go to www.iCloud.com/find.
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID, email address or phone number, and enter your password.
  3. Select the device that you want to remove from iCloud.
  4. Click Remove from Account.

You should now restore the iPhone

To remove the previous owner's Apple ID from your iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Sign Out of iCloud: Go to Settings > [Owner's Name]. Scroll down and tap Sign Out. You may need the previous owner's Apple ID password to complete this step.
  2. Erase All Content and Settings: After signing out, return to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This will completely erase the iPhone, allowing you to set it up with your own Apple ID.
  3. Set Up as New: Once the iPhone restarts, you can set it up as a new device with your Apple ID.

If the above steps don't work, check if Activation Lock is still enabled.
