Battery Health drain post iOS 17 update.

Hi,

I am facing an issue regarding Battery Health drain post iOS 17. I got my device on 7 Nov 22 and till 15 Sept 23, it drained just 2% and had 98% battery heath but once I updated to iOS 17 on 16/17 Sept 23 and .01, .02, .03.. It significantly drained to 94% in less then a month. How is that possible when i didn't change my charging style or using it any differently. I am worried about every update now. The overall SOT i am getting is around 5 Hrs which too less compare to 8 Hrs (iOS 16). These buggy updates was the main reason I left Samsung and now it is happening to iOS is well. Anybody can help me about this.

7 Nov 22 - 100%

15 Sept 23 - 98% (iOS 16)

16/17 Sept 23 - 98% (iOS 17)

17 Oct 23 - 94%

Thanks

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 17

Hey Muzik_D,

Your Battery Health is estimated based on your number of charge cycles. If you find that you have needed to charge your iPhone more frequently after the iOS 15 update, this may be why your Maximum Capacity has reduced more than usual. It's not uncommon for your iPhone to use more resources for the first few days after an update as it applies the changes in the background, but it sounds like you may be dealing with something out of the ordinary.

Check your battery usage to see if you can determine whether an app or process is using an exceptional amount of your resources. This article will help you check: About the battery usage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Look for things like an app or apps using more of your battery percentage than they used to (they may need to be updated), a significant amount of background activity (you may need to disable Background App Refresh), and any suggestions you see on the Battery page.

If you're not able to find the source of your battery drain, please contact Apple Support for more advanced support options. You can connect from the Get Support portal in most countries.

Kindest Regards.

Hi Ali,

Thanks for the reply. I am regularly checking my charging cycle. It was 190 @ 98%, and 219 @ 94%. I checked the apps, they are using almost same as before. I contact CC and they say it is normal. However, reducing 4% for just 29 cycle in this short time really scared me. What shocked me is that today when I checked my Battery health, it is 93%. I am not getting anything what is happening. At this rate, it will 80% in 2 months. Like I said before, I haven't changed anything like charging time, usage. I am using it as a Work mobile. I tried many things available online but no use. I never been this scare after spending 151K INR. :(

Hi, Thanks for reply. Yes, I am continuing my with them. However, they are still saying it is normal. But I don't know why it didn't seems normal to me. Like I mentioned in 18th Oct in comments that my battery health drops again 1% and is on 93%. Today after 2 days, It drops again to 90%. A total of 4% in just last 3 days. No, I am not seeing this as normal. Sorry for being this straight. I did reset and nothing change other then battery health/back-up.

I appreciate your support and suggestions. I will try contact them again. Thanks
