iOS 26 Battery drain & Capacity

I updated my iPhone 16 pro to iOS 26 on 9/17. So plenty of time has passed to account for “extra processes” to be completed. I regularly check for & do all App Store app updates. I’ve changed all suggested settings that could use extra battery that I’ve found through research. Like new display settings, wallpaper, background refresh, True Tone, etc. Yet my battery is still dying significantly faster than prior to updating. Not a small difference, it’s huge. I’ve had this new phone for over a year so I know what my “normal” was prior to the update. I’d wake up w/a fully charged phone & regardless of whether I used it for navigation, multiple calls, social media, YouTube, etc; I never had to charge it throughout the day. Ever. Post update, I’m having to put my phone on the charger 2-3x’s throughout the day. It goes from 100% to 70%, within 2-3hrs of leaving my house, then quickly keeps going down.

Also, battery capacity was 98% prior to update but decreased to 92% in 1m time since updating. I’d love to know what the issue is & why this is happening because having to constantly have chargers w/me & a backup battery device is beyond inconvenient.

For Battery Capacity, what are your charge cycles? Your phone battery is designed to last 1000 charges cycles which works out to be about 1% for every 50 charge cycles on average. The drop is not linear, so some months will not drop at all and other months may drop more. The iOS update has no effect on your charge cycles count after the update.

With your Battery draining, post the screenshot of Settings > Battery, that shows your green battery graph with the last 24 hours option and also the top apps that are consuming the battery. It is good you keep your apps updated, but certainly all have not been optimized and some Social Media apps have been found to be consuming a large amount of battery. If you see the app using Background Activity in the settings there, then the battery drain is occurring even when you are not using that app.
