In-app purchases

I have purchased a "free" app through Apple School Manager and assigned it to a managed student iPad. The iPad is in a Jamf smart group and does not have an apple ID. The details of the app states that the app is free, but there is an In-App purchase option for unlimited use for $6.99. The student has used the app for a week and now has received a message that says "to unlock pay $6.99 now." The app apparently has a 7-day trial period and has now expired.

Apple School Manager and the App Store only have the "free" version available. How do I make the purchase of the full price app to send to the student iPad?

This is not something Apple Support can assist with. It is a limitation of the platform at this time. The best course is contacting the developer as I noted above, followed by a gift card or reimbursement for the purchase at a personal level. Either way, those needing this should file feedback at https://www.apple.com/feedback as this is sorely needed and not all developers are able to support enterprise purchases in this manner (as it requires an additional Enterprise Developer Account in addition to the standard Developer Account).

Your other option is to purchase a gift card for the In-App purchase amount and give it to anyone who needs it. This means the in-app purchase is only tied to their personal Apple ID rather than you ASM instance, so it can't be used by another individual.

You can also file feedback with Apple about In-App purchases for business and schools at https://www.apple.com/feedback
