Why can't I sign into DFAS.mil, Defense Finance Accounting System website

Have to change password several times a year. Last time I tried logging in, got a message saying to update the browser. Called them and was asked if I was using an Apple product. So the situation is they don't support Apple. Using Safari/DuckDuckGo and had to switch to Chrome to get into account. So, does anyone know if there's a fix for this?

Until such time as the website developers support Safari, the only fix is to use a different Browser.

Only DFAS can make it so their website works on Safari. Apple has no way of doing this themselves and there's no real way for you to force the website to work in Safari.

The developers likely just need to update there check for browser compatibility. They probably just aren't expecting Safari 17 from macOS 14 Sonoma yet. Its a small update they need to make on their website code.

As a retired Navy veteran, I've wondered for years why DFAS is super concerned about security, yet doesn't support a more secure operating system like Apple's MacOS. In the past, I've often ignored the warning message you saw and Safari worked. But, as you've discovered, Safari just doesn't work with their system when resetting your password. I, too, have had to resort to Chrome (a notoriously insecure browser and computer resource hog) when using the DFAS site.
