Possible to export photos sequentially with NO spaces?

[Using Ventura 13.5.2] I am tasked with exporting photos for an auction site and naming them with their item number in sequential order - but the platform requirements do not allow for spaces in the image name. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to export a photo from the Photos app without it inserting a space before and after the hyphen. So what I get is 601 - 1.jpg, 601 - 2.jpg etc. instead of what I need 601-1.jpg, 601-2.jpg and in a perfect world 601_1.jpg, 601_2.jpg But I'd just settle for no spaces. Arrrrghhhh. Thanks in advance for any insight.

You can batch change the Title of selected photos to your number plus a sequential padded number as in my previous post. Compile the script in Script Editor and save an an application. Give the app full disk access. Then select the photos that are to be 601 and click on the application. Enter 601 in the first field that comes up and 2 in the second files (for 1-99 exported at one time). For 100 or more use 3 in the second field.

The script can be found here: Batch Change Title to Text w/Padded Sequential NumbersBatch Change Title to Text w/Padded Sequential Numbers

How are you exporting the photos? Are they in an album titled 601 and you're exporting with the Album Name? That will give you this:

If you have a lot of exported photos with spaced that you want to remove there's an excellent file renamed titled Name Mangler that will remove spaces from the file name when the image files are dropped on the app:

It's extremely powerful.

Hi Astro

I'm including a screenshot of my View>Metadata> and...??? Not sure we're looking at the same thing as there's no "metadata name" as you said. Likely I'm confused or looking in the wrong spot.

The best workaround I've found so far is to just rename everything to omit the spaces once they've been exported. But for the hundreds upon hundreds of photos I export from the Photos app, this is going to be tedious.

This new auction platform I'm using insists there can be no spaces - only underscores to separate image numbers.

thank you! I appreciate your reply.

Hi Henderson_86. Just updated to Sonoma and there's no change to Photos I fear. My earlier screenshot still applies to what I'm seeing as metadata options that Astro24 was so kindly trying to point out. When I export a several photos at once and use sequential naming - there are spaces in between the dash and the numbers to my dismay. One of the few times I DON'T want any more space.

See 2 screenshots attached

Thanks in advance

Hi there Old Toad and thank you for taking the time to help

All my efforts to export several photos at the same time and omit the spaces that the Photos app inserts before and after the dash when numbering them has been futile. (and frustrating)

I can bring them into Lightroom and export with no spaces in the title. But not Photos.

I've not ever tried script editing, but sounds like a worthy challenge. Thanks again!
