Photos export Images with same title plus sequential number starting with 1 rather than first image only having title

In the Photos App I would like to export several photos which have the same title. I would like to export using the title as the file name, but would like them to come numbered in the same order which I have them arranged in my folder. When exporting, the first photo exports as TITLE.jpg and the second photo exports as TITLE (1).jpg, the third photo exports as TITLE (2).jpg, etc. I would like it the first image to begin with TITLE (1).jpg instead so that the group of images appears in order upon export. As it is now the first image comes last since it has no number and then I have to rename everything. Is there a way to get it to start with (1) instead of starting with no number. Thanks! Amy

Amy, I suggest to use an additional dummy image. I would simply duplicate the first image and select both the duplicate and the original for exporting together with the other files. Then, when the batch of photos has been exported you can delete the first exported image without the number (1) and keep the correctly named version with the (1).

Afterward remove the duplicate again from your Photos Library. The duplicates do not use extra storage in your library, as they will share the original image files.

Alternately, you could name the first exported image to TITLE (0).jpg. Then it should be sorted correctly.

Rename those photo's titles with this user contributor AppleScript: Batch Change Title to Text w/Padded Sequential Numbers. Then export the photos using the title as the file name. It'll work like this:

Enter 2 in the second window for 1 - 99 photos and 3 for 100 or more.

This is a perpetual problem with all sorts of things-- I run into it especially when I am scanning a bunch of old family pictures, even with different sorts of software. I'm afraid that all I do is scan the first picture twice and then delete the first one--Voila!

In your case, I'd just put a dummy picture first and remove it at the end.

For batch adding and editing titles, I use Photos Workbench($30) which offers all sorts of flexibility. For instance,

works for a title and index number. Then you just print with the title for the file name.

I like sorting my pictures in Photos by title, so I usually start with a date, like this:

The titles are added in their order in the album. If I want to keep some pictures in a different order than they were taken, I can still sort by title. As I put pictures in different albums, even, they stay in order by title.

Photos Workbench even has a Find & Replace mode so I can fix my mistakes!
