I know this is a user error, and I'm very new to FCP. I need help trying to figure how to correct this issue. When I grab a a video in my browser and drag into the timeline, I get an icon next to the cursor indicating it will not allow it. I was able to do this previously and can not figure out how to undo what ever it is I did that is preventing this tool.

Im using the browser from FCP, there are clips that I was able to move into the timeline and for some reason I'm no longer able to drag them down. I just don't know what I did that removed that option.

You have to edit into a project. Click the button marked New Project that's in the center of the timeline pane, or press Cmd-N.

Which browser are you dragging it from? The Photos browser? Is the image stored locally or are you using iCloud Photos Library? It’s better to export the original file from Photos.

Not sure why I can not get the time line below the video to open up and allow me to drag a video down to start editing.
You have to make a project. Click the new project button and choose what settings you want. You need to do that of you’re putting a still into an empty project.
I've uploaded a video from my desktop into the new project, but It still doesn't show me the timeline option below, it still says "new project" how can I start editing?
