panic Macbook Pro 16 M1 Max 64Gb, 4Tb (2021), MacOS 14.0 (23A344)

Recently, I began to actively work with an external 4K monitor via HDMI output. When connecting to the graphics server via an RDP session, while running 3D Max, the Macbook began to freeze, display purple bars in the lower right corner and then reboot, giving an error report after reboot. Before this, I had this happen 3 times in a year when I was working with an office external monitor, but I didn’t pay attention to it, I thought that the operating system was still very raw for the M1 chip. Now that I started actively working with an external monitor and heavily loaded graphics via RDP, this began to happen 3-4 times a week. Then several times a day. Then

I had macOS Ventura installed.

There was another Panic error, you can see it in the screenshot below:

I regularly sent reports to Apple, thinking it was a software issue.

Then I updated the system to Sonoma 14.0 and the problem began to occur even more often, but with a different Panic error:

panic(cpu 1 caller 0xfffffe00276483b4): DCPEXT0 PANIC - apt firmware: apt.c:369 apt_vbi() -- - iomfb_mailbox(67)

...

I also tried connecting the monitor via the USB-C connector using an adapter, as well as changing the HDMI cable and another HDMI port on the monitor. I also tried changing another monitor. The problem remains.

The warranty expired on October 16, 2023, but before the end of the warranty I managed to write about the problem to the regional service center in Russia (I am from Israel and am currently in Russia), I bought the Macbook in the Arab Emirates.

In Russia, the Apple service center told me that Apple temporarily does not support repairs in Russia and offered to send my Macbook to another country for diagnostics for 200 euros and it will take up to 90 days. I also read online that many people with M1 chips who use an external monitor have this problem. In such cases, Apple usually extends the warranty and recalls the devices. I haven't seen it yet. What should I do with this MACbook Pro? Should I throw it in the trash or is this a software problem and Apple will fix it as soon as possible?

while running Sonoma, your Mac experienced a kernel panic because of DCP panic.

DCP is display co-processor. You may have a Hardware issue with the display co-processor.

if you were in the US or Israel, the advice would be to contact Official Apple Support, and request a specialist to read your panic report. (First responders are NOT trained to read panic reports).

Unless your Mac FAILS its diagnostics, Genius Bar or Apple-Authorized Service Providers can not provide any relief. You would need Apple Support to DIRECT a Service Provider to change your mainboard, if a hardware issue is suspected.
