ios 17.0.3 audio selection incoming call

I can no longer connect to my airpods for an incoming call without having to open Settings > Bluetooth and then selecting the airpods. By that time I have either missed the call, or the call has started. Prior to the ios 17 update, you used to be able to select the audio input and toggle between iphone/speaker/airpods on the call screen.

Is there a setting to allow the audio selection during a call to make connecting to airpods quicker?
