I'm concerned that my Mac has been compromised.

I am concerned that my Mac may have been hacked. I was browsing the website when I saw a gift icon appear. When I clicked on it, a message appeared that said "#wlecome". After clicking on it, the FaceTime app opened, but it did not appear to be making a call. It simply opened the app. When I visited the website again, the icon was no longer there.

I am concerned because I have never seen this icon before and I am not sure what it means. I am also concerned because the FaceTime app opened after I clicked on the icon. I do not have any known contacts on FaceTime, so I am not sure why it would open.

I have been keeping my Mac up to date with the latest software updates from Apple. I am running macOS Sonoma 14.0

I would appreciate any advice you can give me on how to check if my Mac has been hacked.

IF your Mac Is up to date the chances you've been hacked are low. macOS'ses built in security is good. But I strongly reccommend against clicking on random popups

If you're afraid your Mac contains malware, you can always try and scan it with the free version of malwarebytes

And take a look in safari>settings>extensions to see if there are any unwanted safari extensions that cause the popups to occur

Hope this helps!

thanks, Yes, I always keep my MacBook up to date. I was so scared so I did Erase all content and settings. I think I'm fine now, right?

Now I'm facing another problem, Got a MacBook showing up in Apple ID devices but not in my devices on the Apple Support app. What's the solution?

When I enter the serial number in the page Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support to check, I get: Please enter a valid serial number.

I'm concerned that my Mac has been compromised.
