Unlocking watch with iPhone

How do I turn off this (new to me) notification that is not only unhelpful but annoying as ****. Disrupts and blocks the screen for 7-10 seconds. Have not encountered this before in 5 years with watch/iphone. Have latest devices

Hi pbgumbo,

It sounds like you're trying to turn off the feature where you can unlock your iPhone with your Apple Watch. Is that correct? If so, we recommend that you try the steps here: Unlock your iPhone with Apple Watch

To perform the recommended troubleshooting steps via the link above, complete the steps in the section below.

To allow Apple Watch to unlock your iPhone for Siri requests or when an obstruction prevents Face ID from recognizing your face, do the following:
1. On iPhone, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode, then enter your passcode.
2. Scroll down to Unlock With Apple Watch, then turn on the setting for your watch.
3. If you have more than one watch, turn on the setting for each one.
4. To unlock your iPhone, make sure you’re wearing your Apple Watch, wake your iPhone, then glance at its screen.
5. Apple Watch taps your wrist to let you know that your iPhone has been unlocked.
The Apple Watch screen showing the words “John’s iPhone Unlocked by this Apple Watch.” The Lock iPhone button is below.

Note: To unlock your iPhone, your Apple Watch must have a passcode, be unlocked and on your wrist, and be close to your iPhone.

Please let us know the outcome after giving the above steps a try.

No, wanting to turn off the notification that shows up on the iPhone in the 'Dynamic Island' when the watch is unlocked. The 'notch' gets twice as big with the notification and stays on the screen for several seconds. Do we really need to know that the iPhone has unlocked the watch 'every' time that it happens?

Thanks for the thorough answer though!
