If we understand correctly, when starting the restore process, Migration Assistant is stuck on "looking for other sources" and doesnt see your Time Machine backup: Restore your Mac from a backup - Apple Support

What type of backup disk are you using? If it is wired, make sure that the disk is plugged in directly to your Mac. If it is a network backup disk, try these steps: If you can't back up or restore your Mac using Time Machine - Apple Support
