Opened PDF in Scam Email

I have an iPhone SE 2nd generation. I am using both Safari and Duck Duck Go as browsers. I opened my email in Microsoft Outlook and saw an email from Amazon.com stating my order had been processed, coincidentally enough, I just ordered the day prior so I opened the email. It showed my order in a pdf attachment. I opened it to discover that it was a scam, showing a purchase for an iPhone in the amount of over $1,300. How do I make sure I did not download a virus or malware or ransomware onto my iPhone?

Hello ALP2246,

There is no such thing as a virus or malware on an iPhone. If you opened a PDF file in an email you should simply be able to close it to get back to the Mail app or home screen.

If you received a scam email that was designed to appear like an email from Amazon, you can use these steps to report the email to them: Report Suspicious Emails

The only Apple related concern would be if you provided any Apple ID information through this scam email you received. If you did provide account information, it is strongly recommended to change your Apple ID password to ensure the account remains secure.
