So i created a shared calendar in google as that is what my company uses for email. in my iCal i can get the calendar to load as i’m the creator BUT when i share it with a co-worker and they sign into their google account through iCal it doesn’t show up but when they log into the google calendar through the website it shows up. what am i missing? is it because for the co-worker it is a shared calendar or other calendar?

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you've taken the correct steps on your end. The recipient may need to do the following which is from Share calendar accounts on Mac - Apple Support.
"See calendar accounts you have access to
on your Mac, choose Calendar > Settings, then click Accounts.
, then enter the user name of the person who gave you access.3. To see a delegated account’s calendars in the main Calendar window, select Show.
4. To see a delegated account’s calendars in a new window, choose Window > [account name]."
